Decent sized field but it lacks any obvious pace. MAGIC MERLIN (4) improving gelding who was met with solid support at his second race start, with a fast finishing fourth over 1400m at Tamworth. Heading in the right direction and can shed his Maiden tag over this trip from the awkward gate. MUIRISC (10) best showing in three career starts when she closed late to secure third over 1300m at Orange. Gives the impression she can run the mile and expect to see her a little closer to the speed. SHOW US YA TEXTS (13) third-up today and back in grade after finishing a plugging fourth over 1350m at Beaumont (Newcastle). Can run into the minor from the low draw. LAGOON (9) frustrating mare with a handy record over this course and distance. Three weeks between runs with a plugging sixth over 1600m at this track. Can hold a forward position from the gate and not to be underestimated. SUGGESTED PLAY: Magic Merlin can finish over the top of them.
