Plenty of early pressure primarily from Life Coach and Auzstar. GOLD CARD (10) raced near the speed and tried hard but just missed the placings when fresh from a 27-week spell over 1200m at Newcastle last start. Yet to place in five first-up runs so it was a better performance than usual. Raced here at 1250m three times for three wins. Wide gate the only negative. IMATRUESTAR (6) returns from a 19-week break. Failed at his only appearance last prep. Races well here and can put in a good one while fresh. This looks a nice race to launch the campaign. LIFE COACH (8) showed pace but his condition gave out when resuming over 1000m at Kembla recently. Has a good second-up record and this trip is more to his liking. Can improve enough to take this out. BONCASSIE (4) was outclassed in a quality sprint at Port Macquarie last Friday. In the mix back in a far more suitable contest. NEVER SORRY (9) has been plain in her two runs this prep but the third-up up credentials are better. SUGGESTED PLAY: This sets up nicely for Gold Card.
