Expecting De Poet to take up the running with Adamdeeant close at hand. DE POET (2) made it two wins from his last three starts when he led all the way to just prevail over this distance at Port Macquarie last start. Stepping up to open company for the first time but drops 2.5kgs to compensate. Will run another bold race. DEBUSSY (6) returns from an 11-week break. Got too far back from a wide alley but flew late to just miss the placings when fresh from a spell last prep in an open sprint at Kempsey. Draws perfectly today and presents as a genuine threat. BUCK PHAROAH (5) has been about the mark all prep without winning, twice bumping into De Poet and coming off second best. Draws a much better gate today and plummets in the weights so he might surprise. HAURAKI GULF (3) is racing well and looks an each-way chance fresh from a five-week let-up. The consistent MARKWELL DREAMER (1) has been freshened up since an excellent effort at Doomben seven weeks ago. Serious contender. SUGGESTED PLAY: De Poet to win again.
