Bank Maur and Red Phantom have the pace to take up the running at a solid tempo. Feature race of the night, which is dominated by horses resuming from a spell. One of those is THE OPEN (4), who blotted his perfect first-up record last prep, but that was when resuming over 1200m. Strikes 1400m first up here, a distance he won twice at last campaign and he did start $2.35 in the Listed Kensington Stks. RED PHANTOM (7) is the one who boasts a fitness edge over his rivals and followed an upset Echuca Cup win with a gutsy effort at Caulfield last time out. He'll give a sight on-speed. BANK MAUR (3) can pull out a run fresh and must be respected if horses can run on. MAKRAM (2) looks the best of the roughies. SUGGESTED PLAY: The Open to win.
