The pace should be on from the outset with Main Defender, Purple Pitcher and Puerto Manzano pushing on from their low draws. ATTICUS FINCH (7) has been thereabouts lately. He raced from a prominent position over 1600m on the Inside course last time and fought on to finish third. He won this race last year and with a touch of luck from a tricky draw, he is the one to beat. PURE PREDATOR (4) needed his fresh-up run over 1160m on this course last start. He would have come on from that effort and should strip much fitter. Goes close. MAIN DEFENDER (1) is better than his last start seventh in Grade 2 company. He has won four times and finished second once from as many starts on this course. He will strip a much fitter horse today and cannot be ignored. PURPLE PITCHER (2) ran out of condition fresh up last start. He has won twice from three starts here over this trip and with a run under his belt, he is ready to put his best hoof forward. Each way value.
