No surprise if the newcomers played a big part in the tempo of this race with little early speed on paper from the raced runners. SAXON SPOT (7) has not appeared since a moderate fourth on debut over 1400m at this track in April. Gelded over the break and has been about the mark in a couple of recent jump-outs. Looks set for a strong return. I'M MIM (9) is back from a four-month spell. Back-marker who needed a run before finding form last prep, but a decent effort in a Cranbourne jump-out on 28 October suggests she is ready to run well. ELITE LASS (14) is a first starter from the Freedman camp. By Darci Brahma from the dam of dual Group One winner Mustang Valley. Not asked for a lot in recent jump-outs but the betting will paint a clearer picture. THINK BABY (12) raced near the speed and battled on well for third last start over this distance at Echuca. Very fit mare who should play a big role again. WIREWALKER (4) resumes. Probably needs more ground but a recent Flemington jump-out win was a promising sign for the campaign to come. SUGGESTED PLAY: Saxon Spot to win first-up.
