Expecting a genuine tempo. SAPLING (7) started warm favourite but was pretty feeble in the run home over 1300m at Hawkesbury last start. Can improve at just the fourth run of the prep and the addition of blinkers for the first time could be crucial. Worth one more chance. INFUSION (4) hasn't been all that far away in two runs this prep. Blinkers go on and she is back to a modest midweek Benchmark so a big run will not surprise. LULL (2) ran a much better race last time out over 1000m at this circuit. On trial at the distance but is cherry ripe after three runs back from a spell and warrants consideration. PIPERITA (1) returns from an 18-week spell. Competitive in this sort of race last prep. Two recent trials should have her up to the mark. MAZ KANATA (12) has been about the mark at all three runs this time in work. Nicely drawn and ready to show her best. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sapling gets the nod in a modest race.
