Moderate pace only with Claudel leading Artgirl.
IRONBLOOD EMPRESS (8) has raced twice and been strong through the line on each occasion in shorter races. Gave away a huge start last time over 1300m at Hawkesbury before stoking up late to be beaten just 1.6 lengths. This looks the perfect race. PHANTOM MAJOR (1) caught the eye on debut last start over 1250m at Newcastle, storming home late to be beaten in a photo. Sure to relish this longer journey. Definite contender. Ciaron Maher brings CROWN OF FIRE (6) north after a modest debut over 1200m at Sandown a fortnight ago. Expect her to be far more effective out to this trip. CLAUDEL (2) has been bridesmaid at all four runs, most recently boxing on well to go under by just over a length over 1400m at the Farm. Nash going on may make the difference. ARTGIRL (3) has been in the money at eight of 11. Blinkers on for the first time could be a telling factor. SUGGESTED PLAY: Ironblood Empress on top in a tricky little race to open.
