In the absence of noted leaders, Blazing Red and Strong Minded may be the ones to set a moderate tempo. STRONG MINDED (2) only warmed late when resuming at headquarters last month, then finished closer to the action second-up at Balaklava. Nearing his peak now and gets a key switch in Pannell. Can get off the mark this time. MAHALER (9) was well supported in her debut prep and came desperately close to getting off the mark twice. Has trialled well in readiness for her return and looms an obvious threat. XITAN (4) is a Zousain gelding stepping out on debut for the Jolly & partnership. Has come along nicely in his lead-up work and is drawn favourably. Suspect he can make his presence felt. KHORASAN (5) didn't fire a shot last time on the Parks track but did make good late inroads two back at Balaklava. Crowther is a good booking for this mare. Watch for her running on late. SUGGESTED PLAY: Siding with Strong Minded.
