Plenty of pace from Churchill Deuce, Battle Ax and June Retriever vying for the lead, with a few others keeping them honest. BATTLE AX (15) is back after a break of four months. Went close to a maiden win before the layoff, finishing second at his latest appearance over 1400m at this track. Has ability and can get off the mark. ANIMA RAY (14) is racing well and is close to a win, the latest effort a solid second at this track over 1400m after being in the firing line all the way. Should be prominent despite the awkward gate - expect another big run. JA NALIA (1) is yet to break through after seven starts. Placed two back then last time out was fourth, beaten 1.1 lengths, over 1400m at this track. Finds a nice race and can measure up. CHURCHILL DEUCE (16) has not raced since his debut on January 12 over 1800m at Kyoto Dirt when he finished fifth, beaten 7 lengths. In the mix with that run under his belt.
