Plenty of first starters engaged which makes it tricky to map, but we can assume a solid tempo. HAMMER (2) makes his debut without any public trials, but he has been to the local jump-outs in his area, and he won't lack fitness or education. A wide gate is no help, but any market support will be worth following. GO THEA (3) was put aside after finishing fifth at Riverton on New Years Day. She has shown enough ability in the past to be considered an each-way hope fresh up in a field like this. RISK MITIGATION (5) has had 4 poly track starts this prep, and she won't mind the drop back from 1400m to 1200m after a 7 weeks freshen up. With the aid of the pole position, she is a sound top 4 chance. MARGIELA (7) was not bad fresh up at Wingatui prior to misbehaving before the start here nearly 4 weeks ago. Look past that recent effort, and give her a chance to make amends in this. SMASHING FASHION (13) has been bought out of the North Island after just one start. She was showing talent at the trials before her debut. Include. FAST LIKE THUNDER (1) has top 4 claims as well. SUGGESTED PLAY: Margiela and Smashing Fashion are each-way hopes at value.
