KING EMPEROR (5) travelled near the tail of the field and only warmed to the task in the dying stages of a 1400m maiden at the Sunshine Coast last start. Plenty of improvement to come at just his third race start. The one to beat over this more suitable journey. I SAY I SAY (3) has been up for a long while but continues to perform well. Led but tired late to finish a well-beaten third over 1400m at the Sunshine Coast last time out. Placed at both runs here. Should feature in the finish again. ALKEBULAN (8) is a 17-start maiden who has been safely held at his last couple. This looks a shade easier so a better run is on the cards. STEPLIKA LION (6) led for home but dropped right out over 2050m at the Gold Coast recently. Should give a strong account coming back in trip. BRASS BAND (1) has been in the money at his past four, the last couple over the Gatton mile. Going better than most of these so must be considered. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on King Emperor.
