Strong tempo with Megalomaniac and Magnastar leading the way. MININJAGIRL (7) missed out on a hat-trick of wins when finishing a fair sixth at Riccarton 6 days ago over 1600m in a decent field. She won a by a nose here before that, and is good enough to bounce straight back into the money here at some each-way value. LEEDOX (8) was beaten by a wide gate at Riccarton nearly 2 weeks ago, and he will relish getting out to 1400m from a better draw here. A slightly firmer surface would do him no harm, and he is another that can figure in the top 3. MAGNASTAR (2) has won 3 of his 4 starts on this course, and a heavy track is no problem. His record beyond 1200m is a bit thin, but with the aid of the pole position, he can upgrade those stats here. UNLEASH THE BEAST (1) was a revelation once getting up over the longer trips at the back end of his last prep, and he should not be risked fresh. SUGGESTED PLAY: Mininjagirl can take this out.
