Pace genuine with Bonus Bond booting up to lead. CONFECTIONIST (1) is knocking on the door after finishing runner-up in both of her starts this prep after winning a couple of trials in April. A wide gate on a wet track might not be too much of a hindrance, and she is set to go one better in this. NOBLE CABELLO (2) is not having any luck with her barrier draws, but she is still running big races, finishing in the money twice from as many starts this prep. Stick with her on an each-way basis. WATERMELON SUGAR (5) battled away gamely for fifth at Ellerslie last start, and she is ready to step up from 1200m to 1400m for the first time. Include in all top 4 combos in an even field. CLASSIC GRACE (6) settled a long way back at Matamata last start and was unable to pick up any ground off a slow pace that day. She is worth another chance. THE GIGGLER (14) did nothing on debut and can only improve with further racing. She is bred to revel in the wet, and she can't be risked. SUGGESTED PLAY: Confectionist can win this.
