Without a recognised leader, Khant Fail and Counterpart will likely set the pace. KHANT FAIL (7) led for the judge but was no match for the winner last time out over 2120m at Goulburn, beaten 5.7 lengths. Freshened up to come back to this trip. Loves it wet and looks the hardest to beat in a race that lacks quality. THE FINAL SAY (10) resumed with a fast-finishing third over 1200m at Newcastle two starts back before a disappointing seventh over 1600m at the same track last start. Nicely placed over today's journey. That provincial form reads well in this field. KITSILANO (3) settled a long way back last start but hit the line well to finish fifth, beaten 2.5 lengths, when returning from a spell over 1262m at this track. Will be putting in the big strides late again over this longer trip. I ALONE (2) was beaten a long way in a 2018m Class 1 at this track two weeks ago. Placed here at this trip earlier in the campaign - can bounce back. Next in line is COUNTERPART (1) who hasn't been far away at his last couple. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Khant Fail.
