This is an ideal race to kick off. Top hope. FRANCORCHAMPS (3) settled well back last start and never threatened when eighth over 1600m at Ohi. Yet to miss the placings from six starts at this circuit. Worth noting Tatsuya Nakajima goes aboard. Won't find this as tough so he is set to turn things around. HIYA (9) finished fourth over 1500m at this track at his most recent appearance on December 28. Has to be respected. MIYAGI ROAD (1) didn't make an impact at his last run before going for a spell on December 27, finishing sixth over 1500m at this track. Yet to win first up but generally runs well with two minor placings from three tries. Comes here with definite top-three claims.
