Solid tempo with Vapour Trail, Royal Dawn and Monticello going hard, closely attended by Father Christmas. GOLD DUST (4) made the expected natural improvement when fourth of 12 over 1600m at Durbanville last time. He over raced in the early stages of that race which did not help his chances. He should be ideally suited to this distance and from his good draw of four, he may be the one to beat. KONNICHIWA (8) stayed on well when second over this course and distance last time. It must be noted that the horse that finished third that day has come out and won since. Andrew Fortune may be able to coax that little bit extra out of him when it matters most. VAPOUR TRAIL (2) was running on when second over 1200m last time. The well-related son of Erik The Red will love the rise to 1400m. He takes on older rivals and from his good draw of two, he should be competitive. LOUI'S STAR (12) raced from a handy position over this course and distance last time before getting outrun late. She has scope and with luck in the running has each-way claims.
