Moderate tempo with Doncaster Avenue leading the way and a few others keeping in touch. CLEVER ILLUSION (8) improved sharply last start when beaten a neck in 1300m maiden at this track. Has had a stack of chances but this is pretty weak so today might be the day. FLEETLY (10) kicked off her career with a couple of decent efforts then lacked the turn of foot required when down the track over 1200m at Tamworth last time. By Adelaide so might need 1400m now - worth another chance. IL TEVERE (3) led and held on well for third over 1350m at the Beaumont track two back. Found the mile at Wyong too far and was outclassed last time. In the right race today and can bounce back. MAD HARRY (14) ran a couple of nice races at or about today's journey before being safely held over 1600m at Dubbo most recently. Worth another chance in this more suitable contest. SKIT 'N' SKAT (1) is first-up after nearly a year off the scene and has switched stables. Lightly raced five-year-old wearing blinkers for the first time. Market watch advised. SUGGESTED PLAY: Backing Clever Illusion.
