Not much early pace and doubt they will go hard. DOROTHEA (10) was a beaten favourite in her first start in the South Island, and she only peaked late after receiving the run of the race. She will be a lot sharper this time, and even from a trick gate, she can set the record straight with a win here. ROYAL ASSENT (7) found some form third up at Ashburton a fortnight ago, and she can secure a cosy run from her handy gate. Her only other placings have been here on this surface, and she can push the top pick. BAGGIO (1) has gone close to winning this year, and he has form on this surface. He won't lack fitness, and he also gets a nice swing in his draw. He drops 3kg, and has to be given each-way consideration. QUEEN COURTNEY (11) ran a better race last start at Ashburton, and she will be peaking at the right time for this. Include in all top 4 combos in a modest field. SUGGESTED PLAY: Dorothea can win.
