Pace looks strong with Vega Risu pushing forward while Hakusan Bird kicks up on the inside. SATONO CARNAVAL (11) missed the frame when resuming last start over 1600m in the G1 NHK Mile Cup at this track but wasn't all that far from the winner. Was a winner at his only previous second-up run. The one to beat in this far easier contest. SHADOW FURY (10) was back from a spell last start and finished fifth over 1400m in the G2 Keio Hai Spring Cup at this track, beaten 5 lengths. Has three wins when second-up and has plenty of upside with the run under his belt. Expected to run well. BALSAM NOTE (2) finished eighth last time out over 1400m at this track in the Gr 2 Spring Cup, beaten 6 lengths. Solid top-three hope. VEGA RISU (14) is a last-start winner five weeks ago, scoring by a neck in Listed company over 1400m at Niigata. Another bold showing is expected.
