Genuine tempo anticipated with good speed engaged. HOTSPUR REALE (5) is close to a win after a string of minor placings, the latest when second over 1200m at Caulfield Heath behind the classy Oliveanotherday. Has a versatile racing style, which gives hope that he can overcome the wide draw. LIL ORLOV (1) steps up from maiden grade but broke through in style on the home track and while put away after that, his preparations for this have included a couple of nice trial wins. ELECTRIC STAR (7) finished third last start at the first run back from a spell over 1000m at Pakenham when she made late ground, beaten 5 lengths. Hard to beat in this suitable race. BILLUND (6) finished 2 lengths from the winner in fourth last start over 1200m at Ballarat, an improvement on his sixth at Pakenham the run before. Steps up a level but he is good enough to turn the recent form around. DECANTED (3) was tested in the G2 Stutt Stks last prep, and while never a factor there, it highlights the opinion the stable has of him. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hotspur Reale to win.
