Plenty of pace on show, headed by Poisonous, Last Apache and Defiance. Solid contest with some good types resuming or making their debut. POISONOUS (3) resumes from a lengthy break after fading quickly on debut with a poor last over 1100m at Randwick Kensington last June. Strengthened over the break and returns with the two slick trial wins. Hard to stop from the inside draw. DEFIANCE (9) gelded over the break after he had mixed success in three runs in his first prep. Won both trials in good style and shapes as a solid top-three chance. KING STRAAND (2) I Am Invincible gelding out of Diademe on debut for the Ed Cummings yard. Wasn't pushed out in his last two trials and expected to overcome the sticky draw. Lugging-bit and tongue-tie go on. Keep safe. LAST APACHE (8) returns for his second campaign. Well placed on debut but struggled to close off with a fading sixth over 1200m at Gosford last November. Wasn't fully tested in two recent trials and the blinkers go on. Keep safe. SUGGESTED PLAY: Poisonous and Defiance look hard to stop off their good trials.
