A solid tempo on the cards with Campaldino heading them off. The $400,000 Group 2 Brisbane Cup. The penny has dropped for CAMPALDINO (4) who has strung three wins together on the bounce including a strong victory here in the QEII Cup a fortnight ago. Has saluted on all going and should be able to sit up on speed for Clark from gate three. Sure to give backers a sight. ETNA ROSSO (3) has just run into one better at the past couple but gets the deadly Waller/McDonald combination here. Looks ready for the step-up in trip now. NIKAU SPUR (2) has a handy record around this circuit with two wins and four placings from eight attempts. Rawiller sticks in the saddle following the last-start placing and rates a genuine top-three contender on best form. It will pay to ignore the latest effort from DILLIAN (10) but go on the two solid wins to start the campaign. Worth another chance. MANZOICE (7) will appreciate the two-mile journey and may earn some minor money. SUGGESTED PLAY: Campaldino to continue the picket fence.
