Lines up today for the first time for trainer Minoru Murakami. One of the genuine hopes in the race. Grade 1 placegetter MANDARIN HERO (2) finished fourth over 1800m at Ohi at his most recent appearance on April 9. Has a solid first-up record of two wins and two placings from five starts. Rates highly and is likely to be prominent. VIGORE (1) did very well to fill a minor placing when resuming at Funabashi but raced below expectations last time over 2000m at Urawa, finishing seventh and beaten 8 lengths. Finds the right race this time and can find winning form. RYAN (12) finished fourth last start over 1600m at Morioka Dirt after racing on the pace for much of the way. Can feature in the finish.
