The pace looks modest at best. MANTEGNA (8) stalked the pace when resuming at this track and trip last start then worked to the line steadily to finish third. Finds a suitable race and can take this out. ANTHRACITE (2) found a couple better last start at this track over 1700m. Form over this journey is strong, boasting 11 wins from 22 starts. Tomohiro Yoshimura is back on and has a solid record on the five-year-old, including 10 wins. Sure to play a big role. RESPLENDOR (6) was out of the money two runs back then again missed the frame last start over 1400m at this track, beaten 0.9 lengths into fourth after being in contention on the corner. Well placed and there is no reason she cannot find winning ways. WATER GEODE (4) produced another moderate effort last start in eighth over 1700m at this track. Best efforts measure up so worth another chance.
