The race pace here looks to be nothing out of the ordinary but things will heat up markedly in this Prestige Hawke's Bay Steeplechase (4800m) over the last 1000m or so. WEST COAST (1) is a superstar jumper. He can carry big weights and repels all challengers. Sublime record here too. Has had eleven Steeplechase runs for 8 wins and 3 placings. Winner. HEY HAPPY (4) last start won at Te Aroha in an Opn Stp over 3500m outing on June 27. Chance here for second or third if backed up quickly. IZYMYDAAD (3) got very close to the champ at his last start. Can place or be first four here for sure on that effort. AULD JOCK (7) is live on a hat-trick. Toughest test to date. Not the worst chance though. TE KAHU (2) was very distant at his last start. Place or first four hope at best here. SUGGESTED PLAY: West Coast is a win wager.
