Genuine tempo with Sir Maverick leading the way. INTO THE CIRCLE (10) has been knocking on the door with another honest effort at Hawera, where he stuck on well for third over 1200m. She has been a beaten favourite in each of her starts back from a spell, and she maps to be prominent again. On top again for us, so follow your money. DIPLOMATIC (3) resumes after a 4-month break, and he showed enough in his initial prep to say he will be even stronger this prep. He is expected to be right in the finish fresh, especially if any money comes for him. DERRICK (2) can be forgiven for the latest effort at Otaki on a track that was firmer than he preferred after putting together back-to-back placings beforehand. Stick with him on a wet track. TOR MENT TOR (1) resumes from a wide draw, but if the track is heavy, then he is not the worst. Top 4 value. SUGGESTED PLAY: Diplomatic each way.
