Moderate pace with Egyptian Legend rolling to the lead and setting the tempo. SASTERION (7) turned in a strong run last time when third at Seymour just nine days ago, which was the third placing in a row. Does seem to lack the killer punch required, but strikes a highly-winnable race here, so worth another chance. LILLARD (3) has found only one better at his past two and toughed it out strongly last time when seeming beaten on the turn. They gapped third (Clydebank Robber) in that race and he looks at peak fitness now. POOR OL' JOHNY RAY (5) is finding the breakthrough elusive, beaten 4 lengths into fifth at his latest appearance over 2000m at Pakenham, but he's among the top chances on his best figures. EGYPTIAN LEGEND (9) raced below her best last time when seventh over 2000m at Stawell, beaten 13 lengths after being in the firing line on the corner. Blinkers on here. As mentioned, CLYDEBANK ROBBER (2) has some ground to make up on Lillard, but that looks the right form reference and he's a top-four contender. SUGGESTED PLAY: 1x2 play on Sasterion looks a safe option.
