Genuine tempo with Cresco Thunder and Ho O Nouveau up front. EL FENIX (3) turned in a fine effort to win by 30 lengths at this track and distance when first-up from a spell last start. Stepping up a level this time but on his best form he is one of the chief contenders. CRESCO THUNDER (4) has been in good form, scoring three back at Sonoda then placing twice in a row, most recently finishing second when he was always up in the leading division over 1400m at this track. Has his share of talent. Hard to beat in this suitable race. AKAO (2) has scored at his last two starts, most recently by a neck over 1400m at this track. That continued the solid form this campaign, with two wins and two minor placings from six runs. Should be in the finish. HO O NOUVEAU (9) last appeared when she finished fourth over 1400m at Sonoda on December 23. Has to be respected.
