Strong tempo with Xtreme and Whiskers leading the way over Contaldo. CONTALDO (2) had a break of 54 days before a last start eighth of eight over 1800m at the Caulfield Heath. Well in commission that day so he is worth following up in this company, particularly back at the mile where his record reads a win and three minors from five starts. NGUNNAWAL (8) found the line well without threatening in a Class 1 over this trip at Wyong recently. Finds an easier race today and with blinkers on for the first time might be the big improver. XTREME (10) dug deep to hang on and win her maiden over 1500m at Port Macquarie last start. Ready for this next step. MORTLAKE (6) showed the first sign of form this prep when third in a similar race here on 13 February. Cherry ripe after three runs back and is one to consider. FLYCATCHER (5) is a non-winner but in a shallow race a top four finish is not out of the question. SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Contaldo.
