Just a moderate pace anticipated. BALLISTIC ROMEO (2) started at $3.30 at Pakenham over 2000m and only boxed on fairly after settling rearward/wide later, from a tough gate. He'd been narrowly beaten there prior on heavy ground and has been kept up to the mark with a Caulfield Heath trial. Draws well and switches back 283m in trip. Expect that to suit, and any rain would assist his chances. Ditto with WHO'LLSTOPLORRAINE (9), who is the threat, coming off a 1.3L heavy-track defeat over 1400m at Pakenham. Led in that and jumps from the inside gate today. The form from that race has been franked, and third-up she'll get every chance to run out the longer trip. A gap then to MOTHERDUCK (6), who was only beaten 2.4L this track/trip before spelling, but hasn't fired for the new stable this preparation. Third-up now, and we may see more from her. preparation ALWAYS SHINING (1) found one much too good over 1600m at Moe, but covered the others. That was a better effort, and he also has minor claims. SUGGESTED PLAY: Ballistic Romeo appeals most.
