Perfect Girl, Giamond and Pattera to battle for the early lead at a slick tempo. A number of key scratchings open this race right up. PATTERA (1) was friendless in betting on debut last start over 900m at Wellington but he gave a great sight, racing handy and battling on well to hold third. Draws a bit better today and with that race experience on-side he can go a couple better. CASABLANCA (4) tired at the end of 1300m at Dubbo last time when fresh from a nine-week break for a new stable. Fitter and can improve coming back to a more suitable journey with the help of the inside gate. GRAND OYSTER (9) is the early favourite on the strength of a game second over 1000m at Dubbo last time out. Will tighten up after two runs back from a spell and should enjoy the slightly longer trip. WEST OF DUBAI (6) returns from a year on the sidelines for a new stable. Well drawn and capable of playing a role in the finish. LANWAR (2) made some late ground on debut over 900m at Wellington last start. Likely improver out to 1100m. SUGGESTED PLAY: Pattera each-way.
