This looks like an ideal race to launch the new campaign. MELANITE (2) came from a long way back to get up for second when resuming over this trip at Hawkesbury last start. Better placed on this roomier track so he is one to watch for in the dying stages. CHARKA (5) also finished his race off well to grab third in the same race as Melanite at Hawkesbury recently. That was his first run in seven months, so there should be plenty of improvement to come. I AM GONE (8) and FAIRWAY TO HEAVEN (7) are first starters from the Michael Freedman camp who have both won recent trials by big spaces. The market will go a long way towards telling how smart they really are. SUGGESTED PLAY: Fierceness on top but the market moves will prove crucial in sorting this one out.
