Expecting Phillyjean to take up the lead at a genuine tempo. MISS JANET (1) ended her juvenile campaign with a win in the Star Way Stakes at Ellerslie in April. She is perfectly drawn for her return in the pole position, and even though this field is very strong, she is the one to beat, especially if the rails are playing fair on the day. BACK OF THE BUS (2) has the race fitness edge over most of her rivals, and her wet track form has been strong. She cops a wide gate, but will still be competitive, especially if the track is wet. HAWEA (3) did very well in her first prep without winning but still be capable of finishing in the money at G2 level in her final start before a break. A wide gate is no help at all, but she is ready to race after 3 solid trials, and she can give this a shake. Follow her this season. STATE THE OBVIOUS (11) resumes from a spell. Watch closely. LATOYA (7) won comfortably on debut at Ruakaka, and she looks like a filly going places. SUGGESTED PLAY: Miss Janet can win this.
