Nafanua is the likely leader at a slick tempo.
ONE RUN WON (3) raced handy into the straight but didn't run out a strong 1400m at the Illawarra Grange last start. Best guide is two back over 1250m at Newcastle when in the frame in a Class 1. That form reads nicely in a race of this quality. GEM TYCOON (4) worked home impressively to be beaten just 0.6 lengths last time out over 1100m at this track. Perfectly placed over an extra 100m at the third run back from a spell. Just needs luck from an outside gate to be right in the finish. NAFANUA (6) extracted from a pocket to close well and grab third when resuming over 1150m at Illawarra Grange recently. Lightly raced mare who should be a key contender coming back a little in grade today. WRITTEN GOLD (1) returns from a three-month break for new trainer Sharon Jeffries. A five-year-old who has had a lot of issues and only been to the races six times. Best form puts him right in contention. BRASS MONKEYS (5) is a chance dropping back from 1400m to his pet distance.
