Despite the small field Scorched Lane, Valimi and Steel Strike can set a decent tempo. On-pacer STEEL STRIKE (5) stepped up to Saturday company last start and ran a bold race in front but was claimed late over the mile at Randwick. Led all the way to win on a wet track here last prep. Very fit and will be difficult to reel in. ROUSSILLON (6) had been racing well until the last appearance when he didn't quicken as hoped at the end of 1400m at Warwick Farm. Untried at this distance but that latest effort suggested a bit more ground is what is needed. BAT OUT OF HELL (2) added to his long list of minor placings when runner-up recently over 1400m at Warwick Farm. Has filled a top three spot at six of seven runs over this course and distance. Adept in all going so it is hard to find fault. APUNTAR (3) went back in trip and failed to fire last start at Wyong. In the frame at all four runs over this evening's trip so he can bounce back. SCORCHED LANE (9) is an honest galloper who is beautifully in after the claim. Must be included. SUGGESTED PLAY: Steel Strike looks ready to win again.
