Cracking tempo with Smashing and Alm Apogee leading the way. JASPER BLAZE (10) showed good early pace last time and battled on gamely to finish just half a length from the winner in second over 1200m at Hanshin Dirt when first-up from a spell. Strips fitter and can find the winner's circle. SMASHING (14) showed good early speed and led into the straight before fading to finish fourth, beaten 6 lengths, over 1400m at Kyoto Dirt. Should be tough to rein in. ALM APOGEE (7) was well fancied last time but could only manage third over 1200m at Hanshin Dirt after being well positioned to strike on the bend. One of the contenders. MOZU M V P (4) was solid on debut last start when beaten 3.5 lengths into sixth over 1600m at Tokyo Dirt on May 3. Plenty of scope for improvement.
