Solid tempo anticipated with Excellent Reward and Sir Basil leading the way. ATE IRON (1) was beaten 5.5 lengths into fifth in a 1500m contest at Caulfield Heath last time out. Even though he was beaten a long way, that's clearly the strongest form line and he'll probably be better for it given it was his first start in almost a month after being scratched several times. SIR BASIL (6) ran a much-improved race up in trip last and he jumps further in distance here, which might be of advantage. MEKA VIBE (5) finished 4.5 lengths away in fourth last time out over 1590m at Wangaratta two weeks ago. Steps up in journey and looks a leading hope. TRICKEMEZI (7) finished out of the money two starts back then he was always well out of his ground and was beaten 8 lengths when fourth in a 2000m contest at Wangaratta two weeks ago. The run at that trip could prove a big plus here. LONG SHOT (3) disappointed when highly-fancied last start in what was a too-bad-to-be-true performance so might be worth another go given the run prior. SUGGESTED PLAY: Ate Iron to win.
