Cracking tempo with American Stage and Lord Four Aces leading the way. BLACK CHALICE (2) is a handy type who resumes after a break of 11 weeks. Only appeared once last prep when she finished 15th over 1600m in the G1 Oka Sho (Japanese 1000 Guineas) at Hanshin, beaten 12 lengths. Has two wins to her name when fresh from a spell. Big chance in this far easier first-up assignment. ROUGE LANAKILA (14) is back after a break of four months. Started the last campaign impressively when in the placings over 1200m at Nakayama. Looks a key runner. AMERICAN STAGE (12) started favourite last time but found one better over 1000m at Niigata. Will appreciate the extra ground. Expected to be in the finish again. LORD FOUR ACES (13) is back from a break of 11 weeks. Raced below par at his only appearance last prep when 12th over 1200m at Listed level at Nakayama. Will race handy and looks sure to be thereabouts.
