DUKE OF PLUMPTON (2) was very impressive when winning both of his steeplechase races to date, and was then back on the flat at Hawera last week for a run around to keep his fitness levels up. He could be the next jumping star, and he will be hard to beat in this. SMUG (1) can mix his jumping, but there is no doubting his quality when he puts it all together. Ignore his last run, and he is the main threat to the top pick, if there is to be one. NAME THE GAME (6) has raced his way into form with improved fitness, and he has won here in this role in the past. Include in all top 4 combos. INVISIBLE SPIRIT (4) struggled at Riccarton in the Grand National Steeple, and failed to complete the course. He is well placed to bounce straight back into form here. SOUND OF SILENCE (7) is the best of the rest after his last start third at Te Aroha 3 weeks ago. Stick with him. SUGGESTED PLAY: Duke Of Plumpton should win, and have Smug in quinellas.
