THREE BRILLANTE (1) kicked off for his new trainer on dirt track for the first time last start when beaten a head into second over 1300m at Mizusawa. Will strip much fitter and is worth following up. KEN WENZEL (6) is building towards a win with placings at his last two runs, the latest effort a third over 1400m at Mizusawa when beaten 5 lengths. Great chance to break through. AILES VAGUE (10) proved too strong two runs ago at Mizusawa. Couldn't follow that up last time out when fourth over 1400m at Mizusawa, beaten 5.5 lengths after being in the firing line on the turn. Likely improver with strong prospects. MERMAID (8) ran below expectations last start but comes here a likely improver with top-three prospects.
