NUM TIME COMMENT
1 12:39 SWAN DRAUGHT PLATE 1000m
Anticipating good pressure with many of these lining up for the first time. MORNING THUNDER (1) was a very impressive debut winner at Ascot before going for a break, rounding up his rivals to win by 2L. Hasn't been sighted publicly since, but the booking of Pike is a big push for his chances. Can pick up from where he left off with this race shaping similarly to his debut win. FARNOVA (6) has led and faded her past two starts, missing by 2L last start at Belmont. The form out of that race has been solid and she now draws a better barrier. Can find the front a little easier today and now third-up into the campaign, she can get the job done. THE VOICE INSIDE (4) has shown good promise at the trials, winning his latest trial at this track and trip. The inside barrier is a big tick for him and he can make an impression on debut. BEYOND A DOUBT (2) is knocking on he door of a win, missing as favourite last time out. This is tougher but he's got race fitness on his side. QUEDJINUP (9) has to be included with a couple of winning trials under her belt.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Morning Thunder can resume on a winning note.
2 01:18 DRUMMOND GOLF HANDICAP 1000m
Just Walter John has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. XENTARO (1) is building a handy profile, winning against the older horses in a BM66+ last start as the race favourite. Back to an Open 3YO here and the claim of Riordan comes in handy. Will need some luck from the barrier, but he might just be too classy for these. JUST WALTER JOHN (4) looks in good order judging by his recent trial and showed glimpses of talent through his last campaign. Can take up the running from a favourable alley and a positive return is on the cards. ZOURUN RUN (3) was too good here last week when winning by 1L at this track and trip. Tougher here, but she's a filly on the way up and wasn't disgraced in Listed company last campaign. Wouldn't surprise to see her go on with the job. DESERT ORA (7) takes the step up in grade today after back-to-back wins at Albany. Should get every chance from the inside barrier though and won't be far away. DEEP LYRIC (6) impressed in his only 400m trial with Pike on board and he sticks today. Creates plenty of interest.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Xentaro can continue his winning ways.
3 01:53 MRS MAC'S HANDICAP 1200m
Norich should lead at a strong tempo. TOO DARDY (5) comes here third-up and with some strong performances under his belt. On the quick turnaround today, but boasts a good third-up record and the splits he's run in his past couple suggests 1200m is ideal now. Looks the one to beat with improvement on the cards. CHARINO (2) sat closer last start and was far too good, putting his rivals to the sword to win by 2.1L. This looks to set up perfectly for him yet again with Harvey replacing the apprentice hoop. Should get every chance to repeat the dose. YORGA PRIDE (7) disappointed on resumption but she is much better than she showed there. Winkers and the cross over nose band go on now and she can improve sharply with that run under her belt. THE CALABRESE (6) steps out to 1200m again today on the back of a couple strong efforts recently. Sure to be in the finish again. SUPERNATURAL (8) has trialled well and can return with a positive performance.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Too Dardy can get the job done this time.
4 02:45 TABTOUCH - WESTSPEED PLATINUM WINTER SERIES FINAL 1400m
Strong tempo assured from Kelvinater and Diamonds'n'rubies leading the charge. MT SHIRATAKU (1) is in good order, missing in a photo finish last start when flying late in the race after ending up a mile back in the run. A better draw this time helps and now Pike hops on board. Can bounce back to winning was in what looks a targeted assault. RAINLINE (2) also finished off impressively from a long way back in the same race as Mt Shirataku, ending up 0.5L off the winner. She can sit much closer this time around for Brad Parnham, with Pike hopping off her to ride Mt Shirataku. Leading chance. DIAMONDS'N'RUBIES (6) won well fresh before a 1.3L defeat to Mt Shirataku 28 days ago. The soggy conditions should suit and out to 1400m also looks ideal. Needs a touch of luck from the draw but is good enough to knock this off. SPEED BUBBLE (3) beat a few of these last time out and can repeat the dose. RIGHT TO SILENCE (10) has to be included third-up.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Mt Shirataku gets the nod.
5 03:15 PETERS INVESTMENTS HANDICAP 1200m
Strong tempo from God Has Drifted, Poblano and Gold Flakes. SEARCHIN' TIMES (4) worked through the grades impressively last campaign before a disappointing end to last campaign. She did jump favourite in a stronger race there though and she rates highly back to this company on resumption. Looks to get plenty in her favour and can return with a bang. SPICY THANG (6) jumped favourite in a BM66+ last start and was gunned down late after looking the winner on straightening. Pike reunites with her now and a wet deck won't be an issue. Has the speed to work across from out wide and can land the knockout blow third-up. POBLANO (8) is a nice mare on the rise, returning with a bang and the horse she beat coming out and winning last week. Loses Pike, but she returned with a new career best and with further improvement expected, she can extend her winning run. ROCK THE MARKET (9) looks to get plenty of favours here and is not to be discounted. DELTASON (2) has to be included after a good return effort.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Searchin' Times can return with a win.
6 03:45 WA RACEHORSE OWNERS' ASSOCIATION HANDICAP 2100m
Major Mario has good early speed and can set a decent tempo. STARTLING STAR (4) made it back-to-back wins in fine style last start, getting over the top to score as a $1.60 favourite. The wide draw is no issue and she remains right down in the weights with Martinan's claim. Can storm over the top of her rivals once again. ANTIQUE QUEEN (5) gets Pike back in the saddle today as she steps up to 2100m for the first time in a while. She has a good fitness base though and the rise in trip looks to suit. Drawn well and can make her presence felt. DUCHEES DEMERIT (8) is hard to knock on recent form, finishing behind Startling Star last time out. McGruddy hops back on board today, replacing the apprentice hoop, and another forward showing is on the cards. MAJOR MARIO (1) can improve getting out in trip now and can put his best foot forward. SAVVY RULER (12) is in winning form and can't be left out of calculations.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Startling Star can win again.
7 04:22 LIQUOR BARONS HANDICAP 1400m
Plenty of pace with Fifth Essence and Little Silver leading from Benji's. TERRITORY MAN (5) is a progressive talent on the way up, scoring by 1.9L in an impressive return at this track and trip. This is tougher, but his figures say he's right up to it and there looks to be improvement to come. Pike sticks, he maps favourably and he can go back-to-back. ALL GRUNT (2) was treading water before winning nicely to end last campaign at Pinjarra over 2000m. He does boasts a strong fresh record though and he's handled a wet deck previously. Likely to get back in the run but can storm home late in the race. CLOSE AT HAND (1) is racing in good order at Kalgoorlie and now makes the trip to town. ZJP's claim is a bonus and the wide draw doesn't hurt with his racing pattern. Can feature in the finish again. MONTE TREMEZZO (10) wasn't far away fresh behind a smart one and looks better suited here. Has upside and can put her best foot forward. ROMANTIC RULER (11) is third-up now and can give some cheek from the inside barrier.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Keen on Territory Man.
8 04:54 BISLEY WORKWEAR HANDICAP 1600m
Solid tempo set by Battle Commander and Prophet And Power. CORRECT CHOICE (7) won impressively two back before finishing 2.3L off the winner last time out over 1650m. Pike replaces the apprentice hoop this time and a better draw makes him a very attractive commodity. His best is very good and a return to that level will see him hard to beat. SIMPLY THINKIN' (6) finished off strongly to win in fine style last start in an easier race, getting the job done comfortably by 1.6L. Has really hit her straps the past couple and drops in weight now. Can bring up back-to-back victories. SNIPPY WHICH (2) is another who is racing in good order, scoring by 0.2L last time out in tougher company. The claim of Riordan comes in handy and he does possess some early speed. Can play a leading role. BATTLE COMMANDER (3) bounced back to form last start and has to be included on the back of that effort. NOTEWORTHY (4) is third-up now and creates plenty of interest.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Correct Choice can bounce back to winning ways.
