GARTSHORE CONSTRUCTION MAIDEN 1200m
Expecting Carooba Mawhooba to lead Girlzgirlzgirlz at just a moderate tempo. MERRIAMA (5) ran a top race on debut when third, and then was put aside after weakening out of it in her last start in the spring. She won the latest of a couple of tune-up trials this year, and in a thin field, she will be the one to beat. CASA RUBICK (3) did nothing when trained in Hong Kong, and he could improve under NZ training conditions. A recent third at the trials should ensure that he will be ready to rumble fresh. Check the market. TASSELS (6) caught the eye on debut when finishing fifth, and she won't have to improve by much to be an each-way threat in this. Each way. GIRLZGIRLZGIRLZ (4) cops a wide gate, but will benefit from a 4kg claim with promising apprentice Tom Wigram picking up the ride. Each way. PACT (7) has shown promise in each of her 2 starts to date, and she is another who is worth including in all combinations. SUGGESTED PLAY: Merriama can take this out. |

AONGATETE AVO-JECT 1200m
Reptak is the likely leader at a keen tempo. QUONDO (5) skipped through the wet ground at Matamata and was a class above his rivals when scoring by 2 lengths fresh up nearly 2 weeks ago. He drops 3kg and is on target to take the next step immediately. REPTAK (2) peaked on his run late when finishing midfield fresh up at Te Rapa 4 weeks ago. His record here is the only query for us, but this very lightly tried 6YO gelding can be a quick improver. Include. MONEYPENNY (4) sliced through the pack late fresh up to score by a nose at Te Rapa, and she is usually just as sharp second up. She cops an extra 3.5kg, but has the scope to improve again. Each way. ORATIA BEAUTY (8) is peaking at the right time here, and her last start second at Te Rapa was a good effort. She maps to settle just off the pace, and she has each-way claims again. AMAZONIA (6) is well worth another chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Quondo can win again. |

RHYS MISCHEFSKI BAYLEYS WHAKATANE 1200m
Solid tempo from Opaea Joe, Chasing Warrior and Poppa Dennis battling for the lead in a high-pressure contest. JELLY ROLL (2) was back in winning form with a gritty performance to score by a nose at Te Aroha on a bog track, and he won't find this much harder, so with half a kilo less to carry, he can repeat the dose. TONIA'S DRAGON (7) has set the pace and only been run down late in her 2 starts this prep, and she usually hits her stride at this stage of her prep. She benefits from a 3kg claim and has a good chance to break her course duck. PUROSANGUE (5) had excuses last time out at Te Rapa after winning his maiden very comfortably at Arawa Park before that. He has a good gate and is well worth another chance. OPRESSOR (3) has followed up his debut win with a pair of solid efforts in this company, including a third at Ellerslie 3 weeks ago. Stick with him on an each-way basis. OPAEA JOE (1) posted career win number 10 at Te Aroha 6-days ago, and he is always a chance on a wet track. Include. SUGGESTED PLAY: Jelly Roll can win again. |

MICHAEL MONTGOMERY MEMORIAL 2100m
Even tempo with Pure Bars crossing from the outside gate and leading. SWEET BUT PSYCHO (2) is proving to be rather frustrating, and she let us down 3 weeks ago when dropping into this grade and finishing fourth when running on dourly late for fourth. We are giving her another chance in this. Each way. MO CHARAID (4) has also disappointed his supporters in 3 of his 4 starts this prep. He is bred to cope with more ground, and the extra 600m could be the key to his form reversal. Stick with him. PURE BARS (11) dropped back to 1600m at Ellerslie 5 weeks ago and failed to flatter. His form over this trip prior to that was very good, and he can make amends in this, despite his wide gate. PRISCA (10) drops back from a competitive BM75 field at Te Rapa 2 weeks ago, and she is capable of a top 4 finish this time. ALASKAN (5) was solid fresh up at New Plymouth, and then fought on gamely for fifth at Ellerslie 3 weeks ago. She is peaking at the right time, and she can bounce straight back into the money here. SUGGESTED PLAY: Sweet But Psycho each way. |

SEEKA KIWIFRUIT CUP 2100m
Expecting Muse and Erase to press forward and set the tempo. WHATTHEMANSAW (4) has really come of age this prep, winning twice, and then fighting on gamely for second at Te Aroha last time out. He has a superior gate this time, and with no problems in deep ground, he is the one to beat in this. HEZA SHARP ONE (3) has raced himself back into top form recently, and was less than a length from the winner when finishing fourth at Te Rapa 2 weeks ago, following on from a brace of wins in May. Stick with him. DANCE FOR HER (5) caught the eye with a nice late finish for fourth fresh, and then let down powerfully to score by half a length at Otaki 6 weeks ago. The gap between runs is our only query, but if ready, she can figure in the top 3 here. TENFOOT TALL (7) did nothing fresh before winning a trial, and then running on late over 1600m at Matamata last time out. The extra 500m is the key, and she can take this out. SUGGESTED PLAY: Whatthemansaw can win this. |

TEAM WEALLEANS TAURANGA CLASSIC 1400m
Strong pace from Churchillian and Miss Bo Peep matching motors with Electric Time close at hand. TRISTAR (4) broke her win drought with a deserved win by a nose at Te Rapa 2 weeks ago, and it is important to note that she has won on this track in the past. She cops a superior gate this time, and an extra 3kg may not be enough to stop her from winning again. GRANDE GALLO (2) got up late to score by a nose at Te Aroha just over 3 weeks ago, and her record on this track is very good, including 3 wins. She loves it heavy and will be among the hardest to beat again. CHURCHILLIAN (1) likes to set the pace, and those tactics around this circuit can be quite useful with a soft quarter in the running. This is her pet trip, and if she can dictate the early pace, then she can take them all the way. ASTORIA BROOKE (12) has improved in each of her 3 starts back from a spell, and she has won her only start on this course over the trip. Michael McNab sticks with her, and so do we. HONEY BADGER (3) has been racing well since her fresh-up BM75 win at Whanganui in April. Include in all combos. SUGGESTED PLAY: Tristar each way. |

SUPER LIQUOR GREERTON 1400m
Loch Katrine should have enough pace to lead a low-pressure contest. PRUDENTIA (11) will appreciate it if there is any rain on the day, and she has been close up in a couple of starts since her big finishing win by a head at Te Rapa in April. She maps to receive the run of the race from the pole position, and she has also won here in the past. On top for us. RIBKRAKA (3) has found form at the right time when finishing third at Te Rapa 2 weeks ago in a similar field. He normally holds his form when fit, and he should be hard to beat. PRINCIPLED (1) sailed home out wide when winning his last start at Te Aroha by a space. He cops an extra 3kg, but in similar heavy track conditions, he can repeat the dose. THE NOMAD (8) can mix his form, but he has won his only start on this track. Stick with him at value. SEXY AND I MOET (12) and ROCKING (9) are both worth including. SUGGESTED PLAY: Prudentia can win this. |

HAPPY HIRE MAIDEN 1600m
Pace only fair with Jamestown rolling to the lead ahead of Lady Charlton and The Mailman. DA ACE (1) is a very consistent 3YO gelding who was third at Te Rapa 4 weeks ago, and his wide gate here may not be a big hindrance if the track is heavy at this time of the day. He is overdue to break through. DUN TALKIN' (2) hit the line nicely for second at Te Aroha, and he will be peaking at the right time for this. A heavy track is what he needs, and he is set to go one better. THE MAILMAN (3) bounced straight back into form when finishing second by a nose at Te Aroha, and then was the favourite before his race was called off on Wednesday at Pukekohe. Stick with him. LADY CHARLTON (8) is another benefactor from the abandoned midweek meeting at Pukekohe, and she has top 4 claims in this. MISSTILLYMARIA (10) benefits from a 2kg claim for her third career start, and she is not out of this. Include in all top 4 combos. SUGGESTED PLAY: The Mailman each way. |
