Young Signs Maiden Plate 1600m
Not much early speed of note and War No More and Nicked Away may find themselves setting a steady tempo. SHE'S GOT THE CASH (10) finished third when resuming from a spell last start over 1415m at Sale after she made late ground. Was beaten only 1.7 lengths by the handy Fatty Finn that day and it's doubtful any rivals here would be capable of doing that. The step up to 1600m looks perfect second-up. CHRONIC (2) finished second over 1400m at Sale two back then missed the frame last time out over 1429m at Sale. Should be nearing peak fitness now and couldn't have hoped to find a better race to strike back. MISS XTRAVAGANZA (7) settled well back then made some inroads and finished 5 lengths away in sixth last time out over 1312m at Geelong two weeks ago. Extra trip here suits. DOWNTHERABBITHOLE (6) was never really in the hunt last time, drifting back early and winding up 6 lengths from the winner in fifth over 1600m at Cranbourne. Draws well and gets her best chance in a while at a second career placing. SUGGESTED PLAY: She's Got The Cash to win. |

Select Office Supplies Maiden Plate 1200m
Solid tempo with Steam Rolled going forward from the good alley. FRAM STRAIT (4) was one of the best things beaten you're ever likely to see last start. Held up for most of the race and still beaten less than two lengths. Needless to say he should have won, which was his first start as a gelding, and he had trialled well previously to suggest an improved performance was on the cards. Have to forgive that performance and while the wide gate looks ugly on paper it at least should ensure there's no repeat of last start. SASSIDORA (12) has been around the mark in most starts and been beaten less than half-a-length her past two, so it's hard to envisage her not playing a key role again from the gun draw. SO YOU EXCEL (13) has had both runs back this time in handy Sale maidens and was a big improver second-up, so from a good draw she looks a major player. DEEPSEEK (3) wasn't beaten far when in the market on debut, so deserves another chance. DOUBT IT'S LOVE (11) will find this easier than some of the prior starts and draws gate 1. SUGGESTED PLAY: Fram Strait to win. |

Ladbrokes Hosted Pots Maiden Plate 2050m
Whatta Man should lead and dictate terms. There'd be SET ME FREE (9) backers out there still having nightmares after she went under at $1.40 last start but the horse who beat her was no duffer and connections could not have hoped to find a better event for her to bounce back. If anything, she'll be better for the added experience and, being by Shamus Award out of a two-time 3200m winner, will relish the step up to 2000m. WHATTA MAN (4) was in the firing line early and finished third last time over 1600m at Seymour, albeit beaten 6 lengths. The first-up run was adequate and he'll be better for the experience at 2000m last prep. COLOUR CIRCLE (1) could only manage only fourth over 2000m at Pakenham last start but did have support at a massive price and will be at peak fitness here, fourth up. WOOLF'S PRIZE (11) has been building fitness this prep, will relish the step up in trip and has the edge of being trained here. LILLARD (5) is ready for 2000m and will appreciate firmer footing than his past two. SUGGESTED PLAY: Set Me Free to win. |

Cool Group 0-56 Handicap 2050m
Pace a scorcher, headed by Pubsmiriclescript, Anything But and Bob The Horse, closely followed by Jim Bob and Kauai. Race with a tail as long as Princess Diana's wedding dress thanks to an abundance of (poor) picnic form. The key players therefore look to be towards the head of the page. MONTE CASSINO (2) comes off a last placing, but that was in BM62 at Sale and he did start $8 that day thanks to a third placing in a handy 0-62 the start prior. His only win came at this trip. REAL INTRIGUE (3) returned to winning form last start, which was a step up on his previous couple of starts, but it was a return to 2000m and this is no tougher. BOB THE HORSE (1) is a bold front-runner who often sets it up for the swoopers but he'll be better for the run at this trip last start and while yet to win in six starts here, he has filled four minor placings. The winner probably comes from one of those three, but next best could be VISTETTO (4), who might appreciate being back in trip, then MARLIN (5), whose form looks poor but is at least coming through better races than a number of rivals. SUGGESTED PLAY: Box Trifecta 1,2,3. |

BJBM Pty Ltd 0-56 Handicap 2400m
Rule Of Salex and Houdini Catarno to bowl along in front. Hard not to be impressed with the first-up run of MANA COMBAT (7), who settled in the second half of the field over 2050m at Mornington before hitting the line nicely to just miss. Can only be better for that, has had a hurdle trial since, and will only be better suited jumping to this distance. MASH AND GRAVY (9) has also been to the hurdle trials since his first-up run and while he won one at Hamilton on Apr 8 he lost the rider in the latest, which is the only knock on his current campaign. He's won two of three at this trip, so he's right in this. THE KINGS GOSPEL (4) is a last-start winner of a race that a number of runners in this race come through. Now he's back in winning form and drawn well with a fitness edge of a few others he's a big chance. PHOENICIAN (1) has struggled a touch since finally breaking the maiden but wasn't disgraced last start and will relish getting back up to this trip. BOYSZEE (3) wasn't far off The Kings Gospel last start and loves 2400m. SUGGESTED PLAY: Mana Combat to win. |

Hip Pocket Latrobe Valley 0-56 Handicap 1100m
Expecting Italian Informant to bounce to the front and lead from the low draw. While TORI'S DEE (8) doesn't have much of a second-up record - 5 starts for 1 minor placing - his effort to get within 2-1/4 lengths of the talented I'mateez in a BM62 first-up was probably the best last-start performance of anything in the race. He'll be fitter for that and, as he showed that day, he can race on-speed which is often an advantage here. STEWART (3) has been racing consistently in this grade with two wins from four starts, so you can't knock the way he's going. His big problem is trying to overcome the wide gate. BRAZEN FLING (9) was plain last start, but that was in 62 grade and the start prior went close in a 56 grade of race that looked a touch stronger than what he meets here. MR MARKLE (2) has been beaten less than a length his past two, most recently when he flashed home late, and strikes the right race to record win No 2. SUGGESTED PLAY: Tori's Dee to win. |

Programmed Maintenance 0-56 Handicap 1600m
Strong tempo primarily from Strikeout, Littlebirdie and Vision Thing over Russian Roni and Foggy Bottom. HOTINHERRE (5) caught the eye late first-up when a big price. Was again doing her best work late last time but just got too far back. There's a chance that might happen again from the wide draw, but she should be nearing peak fitness and this isn't as strong as the past two starts. RUSSIAN RONI (2) was below his best last time, finishing sixth and beaten 4 lengths over 1746m at Sale. The three runs since the picnic victory have all been in 62 grade, so he'll appreciate a look at 56 company. NORTHWOOD VAMOOSE (10) was in the firing line on the corner first-up before being beaten 3.5 lengths into sixth over 1732m at Sale. She'll have come on from that and the drop back in grade probably suits as well. STAND BY ME NED (3) ran his best race of the prep last start and has previously won at 1600m. FOGGY BOTTOM (7) was terrible last start but was beaten 3/4 of a length the start prior in 62 grade so deserves another chance. SUGGESTED PLAY: Hotinherre to win. |
