NUM TIME COMMENT
1 01:05 CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY 2400m
Genuine tempo with Gate Crashers, My Maebelline Girl and Ortem Legacy taking up forward positions. CHARLBURY (2) was only beaten by a neck here 8 days ago, and will have no fitness concerns leading into this race. She strikes another small field, and she should go close to taking this out. GIPPSY GOD (1) ran on too late after getting a long way back at Ellerslie last time out a week ago. The extra 300m is the key, and he can bounce straight back into the money here. PERFECTMANZ (3) set the pace and weakened in the run home here last time out, finishing fourth as the favourite. He is better when ridden with some cover, and he is worth another chance. Follow your money. ORTEM LEGACY (4) will be peaking third up, and she is capable of a top 3 finish in this field, so don't risk her. MY MAEBELLINE GIRL (6) has been holding her form well, and she will again be hard to peg back.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Charlbury to win.
2 01:35 CAMBRIDGE EQUINE HOSPITAL 3YO 1600m
Strong tempo to be established by Vanitygirl, Single Red and Superbus. SINGLE RED (2) finished third in the NZ Oaks earlier in the year, and will be resuming from a short spell. She was close up in a recent tune-up trial, and resuming over 1600m is ideal. She relishes a wet track, and her class will take her a long way to winning this. PLATINUM DIAMOND (1) is a 3YO filly of real ability who found 1200m too short for her fresh at Trentham 4 weeks ago. She has had a trial since then, and stepping out over 1600m second up will suit her. She is unbeaten in 4 starts on a heavy track, and with conditions to suit her, she can take this out. ALACRITOUS (9) has been building her fitness level, and she is looking for a heavy track. She can secure a soft run from a handy gate, and she is expected to put her best hoof forward in this. VANILLA STORM (7) stepped up to a similar trip to this and got the job done by a nose at Waverley just over 2 weeks ago. She will continue to improve, and she has top 3 claims again. VANITYGIRL (8) won by a neck at Avondale. Go again.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Single Red can take this out.
3 02:07 BEYOND WATER 2YO 1200m
Anticipating a good amount of early pressure with many of these two-year-olds facing the starter for the first time. PERFECT CHAOS (7) has been a beaten favourite in both of her starts to date, including a narrow defeat as the favourite at Pukekohe just over 8 weeks ago. She has won another trial since then, and she should get the job done this time. SYSTEM OF PLAY (3) won his latest of 3 public trials, and he hails from the leading Walker/Bergerson stable. He was a high-priced, ready-to-run candidate, and he is expected to be very competitive on debut. Follow the market moves. VANTAGE POINT (5) did not fire on debut after getting too far back on the inside. He was a trial comfortably before that, and he can make amends here. Stick with him for all top 4 combos. HIGH GOAL (1) raced greenly on debut at Tauherenikau when well-found in the market. He will improve with the experience, and he has the ability to win a race at short notice, so stick with him. MISS MAGNETICA (10) has won her only public trial very easily, and she is in good hands. Use the market as your best guide.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Perfect Chaos can win this, but check for market moves.
4 02:40 ALLIED SECURITY 1400m
Solid tempo with Leroy Brown leading from Uderzo and Gospodin. FINANCIER (8) has needed all of his starts since resuming from a long spell, and his last start here for fourth on a heavy track was full of merit. All of his 4 wins have been over this trip, and he is now ready to add to that tally. LEROY BROWN (1) needed his last start when finishing fifth off the front here 8 days ago, having over a month between runs. He has a good gate, and he will again take some pegging back. TALISKER (6) was put aside after a couple of runs in the spring. His best form is when the tracks are wet, and he usually comes to hand quickly. He has not missed a cheque in 3 starts on this track, and he will be ready to rumble fresh. HASSTOBEAWINNER (3) resumes from a spell, and he is normally very consistent when fit. A recent trial will have him fit to run a big race in this. Each way. UDERZO (7) is proving to be hard to catch these days, but he is more than capable of figuring in the top 3 in this. Include in all combinations.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Uderzo each way value.
5 03:10 WINDSOR PARK STUD CAMBRIDGE BREEDERS' STAKES 1200m
Strong tempo assured with Drops Of God, Lucy In The Sky and Lubeck rolling to the front. AVANTAGGIA (17) has taken time to come to it, and she has been patiently handled. She showed a lot of grit to score by half a length at Otaki a fortnight ago, and she would not be here if her top trainers did not think she was up to this level. A wide gate may be OK if the track is heavy, and she can repeat. DROPS OF GOD (9) has been freshened up since her last start third in G3 company at Ellerslie in January. She cops a wide gate, but with Craig Grylls in the saddle, she is worthy of each-way consideration. TO CAP IT ALL (4) made progress this season, and has been close up in some hot fields. She looked sharp when winning a recent trial, and having Michael McNab in the saddle is a positive lead. Watch closely. PLATINUM PANTHEON (1) was too good for a decent field at Tauranga 6 weeks ago. A wide gate is no help, and without any recent trials, he could be a run short, but on ability, he can't be risked. FLEETING STAR (10) was game in defeat fresh here 8 days ago. Stick with her.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Avantaggia each way.
6 03:41 HUTTON CONTRACTING SPRINT 1200m
Strong tempo with Miss Jones and Ribkraka leading from Legally Binding and Merchant Queen. SENSE OF TIMING (10) resumes from a spell and cops a nasty draw as well. She has had 3 trials to get ready, and though she usually takes a run to get ready, she is a year older, and does have the services of Opie Bosson, so don't rule her out of winning fresh up. MISS JONES (7) was very well placed when winning 4 races on a bounce before finishing a game fourth in the Listed Lightning Handicap at Trentham 5 weeks ago. She has won her only start here, and on a likely wet track, she will be hard to hold out. ROMILLY (5) has made progress this season, and she was runner-up by less than a length at Trentham 4 weeks ago as the favourite. She will be hitting the line hard again, and with the right run, she could have the last say here. MERCHANT QUEEN (2) has only battled this season and will be dropping down in class for this suitable assignment. A form reversal is on the cards. Each way value. MAGICE (13) was well found in the market fresh, and peaked on his run late. Stick with him.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Merchant Queen each way.
7 04:16 TRAVIS STAKES 2000m
Privy Garden is likely to take charge and set a decent tempo. MONOLOGUE (7) drove hard and only just missed by half a length at Whanganui nearly 3 weeks ago in the G3 Manawatu Breeders' Stakes. She will be at her peak fitness for this, and she revels in wet ground. If she can get to the right part of the track in the run to the line, then she can take this out. QALI AL FARRASHA (1) was a G2 winner in the spring, and her form since then has been good enough in some hot fields, including a last start in G1 class at Trentham, where she was out of the money. Opie Bosson is back in the saddle, and the pair can win this. KHANSHE (2) overcame a wide gate to flash home for fourth in the G1 NZTB Breeders' Stakes at Trentham 4 weeks ago. She is strong enough now to cope with a middle distance, and she has top 3 claims this time. PRIVY GARDEN (8) just battled in the G3 Ester Handicap 7 days ago, and she will be spot on for her first run this prep in an anti-clockwise direction. Don't risk her. LOTUS (10) will be peaking at the right time. Include at odds.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Monologue can win, and Privy Garden at top 3 value.
8 04:51 TCL EARTHWORKS 1400m
Genuine tempo with the speedy Whats The One Code leading the way. ORSON STONE (5) was a beaten favourite in a good field at the end of his initial prep, and probably lacked some strength at the time for his first run over a middle distance. He will be stronger now, and a recent trial will have him ready to rumble fresh, and his wide gate may even be an advantage on a heavy track. Check the market moves. ACCENTUATE (11) just battled fresh up after her saddle slipped just after the start, and that run is best ignored. She has a superior gate here, and she will have Craig Grylls replacing an apprentice this time, so give her another chance. WINWOOD (6) needed his debut run, and then caught the eye with a big finishing win by more than a length at Pukekohe just over 3 weeks ago. He has the scope to repeat the dose. SHINING PEARL (10) has raced his way into some good form, and he has raced well since winning his maiden in February. She cops a wide gate, but she is still worth including in all top 4 combos. WITH GRACE (15) has top 4 claims at big odds.  SUGGESTED PLAY: Winwood each way.
