KANAZAWA   21 Sep 2026

GOING:

Race 9 1400m

Track:

Strong early tempo with Hakusan Pioneer and Pantelleria leading the way. PANTELLERIA (2) brings the cleanest winning profile, having strung together successive Kanazawa 1700m wins in 3yo+ A2 company, the latest by a nose as an odds-on favourite after beating Mani Hero again. The return to 1400m is not a concern on the supplied record, with three wins and one placing from five starts at this track and distance, so he is the runner to beat. HAKUSAN PIONEER (1) is the main danger, coming off a Nagoya second behind Golden Ring and having won at Kanazawa the start prior; his eleven wins from 20 at the track and trip, plus H Yoshihara returning, give him a strong platform. SAKURA TOUJOURS (7) has to rebound from a plain 2000m run, but his six-length Kanazawa win two back keeps him right in the contest if the shorter trip does not blunt him. CUMULONIMBUS (5) resumes after winning here and has an excellent track-and-distance record, though the break makes him more a serious place player than the safest win option.

KAZUYOSHI KATO
6YO  DK B  HORSE 57.0KG
Goichi Kawasaki
Returns from a five-week let-up after finishing second over 920m at Nagoya, where he led into the lane before being claimed by Golden Ring and beaten five lengths. The previous Kanazawa win, when he beat Continuar by half a length, reads well for this return to 1400m. Eleven wins from 20 at the track and trip and H Yoshihara back aboard make him a major winning chance.

Returns from a two-month let-up with winning form hard to fault, having landed consecutive 3yo+ A2 races over 1700m at Kanazawa. He beat Mani Hero by a nose last time as an odds-on favourite after scoring by two lengths at the same trip the run prior. Back to 1400m suits on his three-from-five track-and-distance record, and he has the profile to justify top billing.

Worked home evenly for third in a 3yo+ A1 at Kanazawa last start, beaten just over three lengths by Never Let You Go, and had filled the same placing behind Tablao before that. The concern is that he was sent out odds-on two back and still beaten six lengths. His career record is strong, but the recent pattern points more to a placing hope than a dominant winning case.

Returns from a five-week freshening after a plain Nagoya seventh over 920m, beaten nine and a half lengths by Golden Ring after settling rearward and making limited late impact. He was also a well-beaten third in a 3yo+ A1 at Kanazawa the run prior. The track-and-distance record gives some each-way appeal, but recent margins say he needs the race to fall his way.

Returns from a four-month break after winning at Kanazawa, where he beat Ryuno Break by just under a length and confirmed the good form shown when second to Flap Cygnus before that. He has two wins and a placing from three starts at this track and distance, and the matchup note says he has beaten Hakusan Pioneer here earlier in the preparation. The layoff is the main caution.

Finished fifth in a 3yo+ A1 at Kanazawa last start, beaten seven and a half lengths by Never Let You Go after weakening late, which was an improvement on a Nagoya ninth beaten over 15 lengths. The market has been against her at long odds, but seven wins from 16 at this track and distance are hard to ignore. She can lift into the minor money if rediscovering that venue form.

Put in a flat sixth over 2000m at Kanazawa last start, beaten seven and a half lengths by Dante Barows after offering little late. His previous run was much better, an effortless six-length 3yo+ A1 win over 1700m from Illuminator as an odds-on favourite. The drop back to 1400m is the question, but that peak performance is good enough to make him a genuine threat.

Finished last at Kanazawa in a 3yo+ B2 last start, beaten over 13 lengths by Le Serment D'Amour at long odds, and had been beaten over 14 lengths in a 3yo+ B1 before that. He has won twice at this track and distance and has a workable record with Masaya Matsudo, but the current form leaves him with too much to turn around.

Was only fair through the line when seventh in a 3yo+ A1 at Kanazawa last start, beaten eight and a half lengths by Never Let You Go, and had finished fifth by the same margin behind Tablao beforehand. Her overall record has merit, but she is unplaced in three starts at this track and distance and needs a much sharper finish to trouble these.

Finished fourth in a 3yo+ A1 at Kanazawa last start, beaten just over six lengths by Never Let You Go after settling rearward. The run prior was another fourth, beaten just under six lengths by Fine Topaz in a small field when at long odds. He has one win from 18 at this track and distance, so the place record offers limited support against stronger chances.
