GOING:

Race 2 1400m

Track:

Pace only fair with Sanono Salvador rolling to the lead ahead of Meisho Gorushi and Hagane. GIRLS' HEROINE (1) has the most reliable profile among the main hopes, coming off a second to Shelterbelt after being sent out favourite and having won her previous run in 3yo+ C2 grade by three lengths from One More Chance. Her Kanazawa 1400m record adds further substance. ONE MORE CHANCE (11) is the obvious danger after quickening sharply to beat Maono Breezy last start, though she does need to turn the tables on Girls' Heroine from their clash three weeks ago. LUCKY DRAGON (3) has placed at his past two and is respected on consistency, but being beaten eight lengths last start leaves him with less margin for error. BIG GATE (5) is capable of running into the money if he builds on his latest fourth, yet his earlier B2 failure keeps him behind the top pair.
1 20512 GIRLS' HEROINE
SHIGERU SATO
8YO  DK B  MARE 55.0KG
Yoshiko Yamashita
Worked home well for second to Shelterbelt here last start, beaten two lengths as favourite, so there was merit without full reward. That followed a decisive 3yo+ C2 win at Kanazawa, where she beat One More Chance by three lengths after showing a sharp turn of foot. With two wins and four places from nine starts at this track and distance, she sets a sound standard despite the beaten-favourite tag.

Ryotokuji Kenji Holdings Co. Ltd.
Charged home from a poor position to run second to Link Arms here last start, beaten just under a length, and that was clearly his best recent effort. The concern is the run prior, when second last over 900m in 3yo+ C1C2 company after being big odds and never looking likely. He has placed often enough at Kanazawa 1400m, but the winning strike-rate says he still has to lift.

Hiromitsu Horiba

Komahide
Held second behind Kitano Dia here last start, but the eight-length margin tells the story after he was close enough and could not quicken. His previous third to Divertision was more persuasive, beaten two and a half lengths when respected in an open market. A solid Kanazawa 1400m record keeps him in the winning discussion, though he needs a sharper response when the race lifts.

YUKO TAKAHASHI
7YO  DK B  HORSE 57.0KG

Worked home evenly for fifth in 3yo+ B2 grade behind Best Tango last start, beaten three and a half lengths after being unwanted in the market. He had also finished fifth at the same level two back, beaten five and a half lengths. The class drop helps and his four wins at this track and distance are a genuine asset, but recent efforts point more to a place finish than a win.

MASAYA MATSUDO
WHITE, MEDIUM BLUE STRIPES, RED SLEEVES , MEDIUM BLUE ARMBANDS, Blue cap

YUKO TAKAHASHI
4YO  DK B  HORSE 57.0KG

Picked up nicely in the straight when fourth to Shelterbelt here last start, but he was still beaten eight lengths and finished behind Girls' Heroine. The start prior was a much bigger concern, ninth in 3yo+ B2 grade after being big odds and beaten over 13 lengths. His record with Shoma Kato is a plus, yet he needs to close the gap sharply on the better exposed chances.
5
SHOMA KATO
ORANGE, WHITE CROSSED SASHES, ORANGE SLEEVES, WHITE STARS, Yellow cap
6 95883 LONG SUCCESSION
MASAYA SUZUKI
8YO  CHESTNUT  HORSE 57.0KG
Toshio Nakai
Finished strongly for third to Piena Paprika here last start, beaten just under a length, and that effort was backed by market respect. The issue is trust: his previous run in 3yo+ B2 grade was an eighth to Ka Noa Lady, beaten eight lengths after being unwanted in betting. He has a decent record with Masayoshi Aoyagi, but needs to reproduce the latest rather than the broader pattern.

MASAYOSHI AOYAGI
YELLOW, BLACK HALVES, BLACK DIAMOND BAND, NAVY SLEEVES, Green cap
7 39362 ODEN OPAL
SEIJI SUKITA
4YO  DK B  FILLY 55.0KG

Finished strongly for second to Ka Noa Lady in 3yo+ B2 grade here last start, beaten just under a length at generous odds. That was a clear improvement on her sixth to Star Candy, where she conceded too much start and was always chasing. She has built a reliable place record with Kenshin Uozumi, so another honest showing is expected, though her winning edge remains the query.
7
KENSHIN UOZUMI
GREEN, RED STRIPES, GREEN SLEEVES, WHITE DOUBLE ARMBAND, Green cap
8 6676x SANONO SALVADOR
KAZUHIRO KATO
3YO  BROWN  COLT 57.0KG
Nobuyuki Sano
Returns from a three-month break after finishing sixth to Hajimeteno Chu in 3yo+ B2 grade, beaten nine and a half lengths when near the top of an open market. His run prior was another plain effort, seventh to Okoju and unwanted in betting. The class drop and overall career record provide some counterweight, but he needs a much cleaner finish fresh to threaten.
8
TAICHI SUZUKI
RED, GREEN BAND, WHITE SLEEVES, GREEN ARMBANDS, Orange cap
9 76336 HAGANE
KOJI FUJITA
6YO  BAY  HORSE 57.0KG
Morihiro Sato
Worked home evenly when sixth to Best Tango in 3yo+ B2 grade last start, beaten six lengths at generous odds. His previous third to Yuino Kokyu was better, beaten three lengths when closer to market favour, but he has yet to win from 19 starts at this track and distance. The grade relief gives him some hope of improvement, but others bring stronger recent claims.
9
SHIZUO OKI
JAZZBERRY JAM, RED ARMBANDS, Orange cap
10 59664 MEISHO GORUSHI
KAZUHIRO KATO
6YO  GREY  HORSE 57.0KG
Yoshio Matsumoto
Kept working when fourth to Best Tango in 3yo+ B2 grade last start, beaten two lengths at generous odds, which was a step in the right direction. That came after a sixth to Style Yourself, beaten over 11 lengths when among the outsiders and unable to quicken. His three Kanazawa 1400m wins are relevant, but he must string the latest effort into something stronger.
10
YUMA SHIBATA
YELLOW, BLACK DIAMOND CHECK, YELLOW SLEEVES, BLACK STRIPE, YELLOW COLLAR, Pink cap
11 57521 ONE MORE CHANCE
KINYA SUGAWARA
5YO  BAY  MARE 55.0KG
Tsunefumi Kusama
Quickened impressively to win here last start, beating Maono Breezy by a length and a half, and that confirmed the improvement shown at her previous run. Two back she was second to Girls' Heroine in 3yo+ C2 grade, beaten three lengths after starting an outside chance in betting. The wide barrier is a small concern, but her current form gives her a genuine chance to turn the tables.
