Genuine tempo with Waves Leaps to lead but under plenty of pressure in a keen early contest. WAVES LEAPS (9) recorded a strong on-pace win when making his debut at this course and distance last time, getting home by a nose. Should only be better for that experience so could strike again. FORNACALIA (4) is back from a spell of 11 weeks. At the only only run of last prep was fifth over 1600m at Tokyo Dirt. Should measure up strongly in this company. HERR WITZ (3) hasn't featured at his two runs but they have come in much stronger company on the JRA circuit. Much better placed this time. RIVER STAR (2) draws well and is racing consistently with a win and three placings from the last four outings at Funabashi. Contender.
