A few sit handy but there won't be a great deal of early pressure. CANARA (12) doesn't win out of turn but ran a strong race last time out over 1640m at Doomben, beaten 2 lengths. That rates well for this and has the blinkers on again and Ben Thompson in the saddle. Maps well enough and deserves another chance. OUR JEWEL (14) won a trial and went close over 150m here first-up. Loses Thompson but draws low and the step up in trip suits. A live chance with the extra fitness. FIRE AND LIGHT (5) switches back to the mile but is racing well and will be strong to the line. Can't be ruled out. KEEP IT LOKI (17) came back to racing improved when beaten 1.2L over 1400m at the Gold Coast in stronger. Has an awkward gate but fitter goes in at a price. SUGGESTED PLAY: Going with Canara.
