Fast tempo assured with Katsu, Aspect and The Grey King going toe-to-toe. BEL CANTO DREAM (1) almost caused an upset in his last start over this distance. The blinkers seem to have done the trick. 2.5kgs claiming apprentice Brevan Plaatjies retains the ride and from pole position, he can go one better. TENPENNY (7) stayed on well when third over this distance last time. It is encouraging that JP van der Merwe steps back into the saddle. Has each-way claims. THE GREY KING (8) is better than his last start run would suggest. Rates well in this line-up as an each-way chance. CAPTAIN WEST (6) settled well back in the running last start then made a little ground to finish fourth last time out over 1400m at this track. Racing over a longer trip has to be respected.
